As an ethically led business, we take your privacy seriously. For the purposes of Data Protection legislation, our data controller is the business proprietor, Peter Murray.

We collect your information both at the enquiry stage and at the time of purchase of a vehicle, goods or services. This enables us to respond to your requests and fulfil our obligations in the event of safety recalls.

In the case of transactions funded by finance companies, we enable them to process your purchase by passing your details to them. Personal details and a copy of your driving licence are retained by them.

We retain the details of your vehicle and ownership in order to send MoT reminders, 'thank you' letters and occasional marketing information such as stock lists and promotional offers.

In the event of a legitimate request from the Police, such as speeding or parking tickets, accident information or illness, we will assist by giving the information requested.

   The present owner of the business, Peter Murray, has been involved in car retailing since 1968. Since taking over in 1993, Peter has made it his mission to source well cared for cars and offer them at value for money prices. “You can buy a car anywhere” says Peter, “but we like to put in the extra effort to offer vehicles with that elusive ‘wow’ factor.  The right car, matched to your requirements, means customer satisfaction for you and job satisfaction for us. It also means you are likely to come and see us as your preferred used car dealership next time and to recommend friends, family and associates”. It certainly works for HLG - 88% of retail sales over the past eight years have resulted from repeat business and recommendation. A recent survey showed that the majority of people buying a used car still prefer to see and touch their prospective purchase, rather than hope for the best online. We would always recommend that you see what you are getting and not only look it over, but test drive it and make sure it feels right for you. New customers are always welcome and we are happy to guide you.

  When Robert Austin opened for business here on the 15th of June 1927, he could not have envisioned that 94 years later, the business would still retain the values and customer focus which saw his original team flourish through sheer hard work and determination. A legacy which we are proud to uphold, while embracing contemporary technology, more sophisticated customer requirements and ever changing market and economic forces.
